Role Description
CloudOps Engineer designs, plan, create, & implement cloud-based software & Hardware. This role will support Cloud environments as well as Windows/Linux based server infrastructure. You’ll be a thorough, methodical specialist with a fundamental commitment to security, automation, & quality. You’ll thrive on bringing automation to routine tasks & continuously raising the quality of the service you provide.

The Cloud Infra Engineer will focus on the Operational Excellence pillar - managing & automating changes, responding to events, & defining standards to successfully manage daily operations. The ideal candidate will be cross skilled in supporting & maintaining Infrastructure systems including Linux, Windows Server, Cloud PAAS, SAAS (AWS, Azure) environments. You’ll be a critical member of a high performing team, personally producing outcomes that accelerates IDPs agenda to support students in their life-long study journey.
Key accountabilities
Working in the Infrastructure Team to support a diverse range of infrastructure across IDP business including Network & Cloud. Automate IDP Platform Operations, by driving scripting operations procedures. Ensuring Best Practices - You will continuously review our environment against Best Practice standards, give recommendations & improvements in a structured & methodical manner. Coordinate with the Cyber Team & drive IDP security practices across the IDP business. We are entrusted with the personal information of students & we take this extremely seriously. You’ll be an expert voice in ensuring that Security & Privacy are a fundamental part of every design & deliverable. Work with System Architects to assist in the design & deliver infrastructure including compute, network, communications & storage components. Maintain your knowledge on evolving threats & opportunities to improve the performance, agility & cost effectiveness. Routine Monitoring & Reporting - You’ll review regularly with the infrastructure leadership. In cloud, you will be utilizing Trusted Advisor, Guard Duty, Well-Architected tools & produce actionable plans. You will work in a virtual team with the Development, Support, Testing & Service Desk to ensure the delivery of services & applications. You are continuously learning and extending your knowledge of best practice & the business value of technology innovations.
Required experience
AWS Cloud experience - CloudFormation, ASGs, EC2, VPCs, Transit Gateway, Cloud Watch, RDS, Dynamo DB, SNS etc. Knowledge of core AWS Cloud Services (EC2, VPC, IAM, Route 53). AWS microservices – Lambda / API Gateway, SQS, SNS. Experience in monitoring &auditing systems. Knowledge of cloud monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, CloudWatch, CloudTrail). Ability to estimate usage costs &identify operational cost control mechanisms. Customer service skills - Interpersonal skills, particularly negotiation &facilitation, to recognize staff needs &ways to satisfy them &maintain good relations with IDP staff &suppliers. Demonstrates strong customer understanding &focus. Highly developed communication skills for dealing with enquiries &supporting staff in IT. Ability to elicit &define requirements from varying sources. Drive delivery in line with business needs.
Bachelors or master’s in software engineering, Computer Science or other relevant discipline. At least 5-8 years’ experience in an Infrastructure role with experience AWS Cloud Platform engineering role. Prior experience delivering systems in a commercial environment with operational, performance, security &availability requirements. Experience in Infrastructure as Code, deployment framework etc. Drive &solve problems impacting critical security systems &implement automation to prevent reoccurrence. Design &implement Disaster Recovery processes. Analyzing &monitoring performance bottlenecks &key metrics to optimize software &system performance. Act as SME on AWS. Experience in utilizing CI/CD pipelines to maximize quality in a development team. You must be able to communicate clearly &accurately. Provide productive contributions to the creation of the team’s patterns.
Advantageous to have: Windows/Linux operating system experience (Highly Desirable). Strong Knowledge of Containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker). SAP Cloud: Hybris Com &Marketing, C4C; Webhooks, ODATA Services.
