Role purpose
This Senior Finance Manager role is responsible for the overall Finance and Administration function in Taiwan and is primarily responsible for working with the IDP Taiwan country leader to track and drive performance and highlight business performance opportunities.
Key responsibilities
Performance including Budget & Forecast
- Lead country financial planning (budgeting, forecasting and reporting) – providing reports and analysis and insights on business performance to Regional Finance Director, Country Director , Taiwan management team proactively or on request.
- Providing commentary around variance to prior forecast, budget or last year
- Monitor budgets and overall financial performance. Initiate corrective action with CD where required
- Closely track forecast accuracy and build culture of proactivity and continuous forecast improvement amongst local operational teams
Routine Financial Management
- Lead efficient and effective day to day operational finance activities (AR, AP, GL, income and bank reconciliation, cash management, payroll) and routine financial activities (financial accounting, month end/year-end closing, audits, tax and company secretary work).
- Oversight of the month and year end process including ensuring the completion of the General Ledger and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Cashflow forecasting and management.
- Effective financial control and risk assessments.
- Managing the company’s financial systems.
Compliance
- Ensuring all financial accounting obligations and statutory requirements (including licenses and company secretarial) are met for all Taiwan legal entities for IDP and in line with local laws and accounting / tax standards.
- Preparation and submission of profits tax return.
- Embed compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements in all offices in operational policies, procedures and systems.
People & Leadership
- Review finance team activity and deliverables, agreeing on priorities with direct managers.
- Mentor and motivate team to uplift performance
- Significant interaction with global finance stakeholders (Region Finance, FSS, FPA)
- Develop a dynamic, inclusive workplace, building the culture while recognizing and celebrating innovation, success and achievement.
Projects
- Support global finance transformation implementation.
- Locally lead projects to synergise IDP Taiwan’s entity structures
- Lead or participate in other projects as they arise
Administration & Procurement
- Lead local offices lease negotiation/office renovation & consolidation and administration procurement with set policies and procedures.
- Handling contractual and legal matters
- Ensuring Taiwan business operates within global & regional procurement and spend policies
Required experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business or Commerce.
- 10+ years of finance work experience and Minimum 3+ years experience in a managerial level.
- Holder of post graduate finance qualifications e.g. CPA or equivalent
- Good understanding of local compliances and requirements.
- Capability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
- “Fire in the belly” – motivated to learn swiftly and add value
- Experience using AI would be beneficial
- Ability to connect across levels including senior leadership members.
- Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and motivating team members to higher achievement.
- The ability to manage critical deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills in Chinese and English (verbal, written and timely) to operate effectively with global colleagues
