Role purpose

The IELTS Examiner Trainer plays a pivotal role in providing academic support and management for all IELTS Speaking examiners at IDP Vietnam to ensure high standards of assessment, including but not limited to recruitment, training, professional development, and performance monitoring. The position holder also delivers high quality IELTS speaking tests to contribute to IDP Vietnam’s business growth and plays a part in various academic activities organised by IDP Vietnam

WORKING LOCATION: HO CHI MINH/HANOI (We welcome applicants from both cities - Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi)

Key accountabilities

• IELTS Speaking examiner academic management
  • Recruitment
    • Screen applications, interviews, and works with PSN to recruit new examiners according to annual plan
    • Participate in the induction of new examiner in conjunction with Test Centre Managers and People Experience (PX) team
  • Training and professional development
    • Conduct training for new examiners for different IELTS products, standardisations and refresher sessions for current examiners.
    • Ensure examiners have the required skills and knowledge to achieve effective test operations.
  • Quality assurance
    • Monitor and manage performance in accordance with the IELTS PSN framework through PSN monitoring and other feedback mechanisms.
    • Manage underperformance effectively by coaching and stretch assignments
  • Wellbeing support
    • Contribute to the management of examiner relations, engagement, and wellbeing

  • Maintain the reputation and integrity of IELTS and IDP at all times
  • Adhere to the IELTS Professional Support Network and IDP policies
  • Strictly follow IELTS Code of Practice and Confidentiality Undertaking

Required experience

• An undergraduate or Master’s degree
• A recognised TEFL/TESOL qualification
• 4 years’ IELTS examining experience or 2 years’ with a minimum of 600 interviews
• 5 years’ full-time teaching experience or equivalent
• Active IELTS Speaking examiner with strong monitoring and certification history
• Experience in conducting training workshops and seminars with teachers or other professional colleagues
• Experience of managing, monitoring, and supporting line managees
• Hours of work: 40 hours per week, 5 days per week
• Ability to work on weekends and travel regionally or nationally
