Role purpose
The Corporate Communications Manager - Global is responsible for proactively building the voice of IDP as a leader in global education services. The role has a strong focus on designing and implementing communication strategies for IDP’s key projects and initiatives that take place across its global network.
Working as part of the central communications team, the role is responsible for engaging with the IDP Education network to build and deliver IDP’s annual calendar of proactive communications to reinforce our company strategy and employee value proposition. A key deliverable is drafting the copy for the annual report.
The role will be seen as a senior leader in communication issues across IDP’s network.
Key accountabilities
Proactive communications
Draft the copy for the editorial section of the annual report, working with key subject matter experts to ensure their input and messaging are aligned across all related corporate reporting suites.
Work with business teams around the network to develop and deliver proactive communication plans that include media and social media announcements for the key corporate initiatives including product launches, IELTS initiatives and business achievements
Work closely with IDP’s People Experience team to deliver communication plans articulating IDP’s employee value proposition
Ensure all announcements reinforce IDP’s vision, values and strategic priorities.
Strategy and planning
Work with the Head of Global Corporate Communications to help develop and implement the annual overarching communications strategy for B2B, internal and corporate affairs
Engage with the IDP Education network to determine objectives and expectations, and to increase the use of centrally-led communications initiatives
Media and reputation management
Liaise with the CEO and Global Leadership Team and relevant media agencies to develop media position statements and approaches.
Build relationships with IDP’s global network and key business areas to identify and amplify media opportunities that help us achieve our strategic goals
Supporting the Head of Corporate Communications, help protect the reputation of IDP and its products by managing media and escalated reputational issues across the global network.
Ensure IDP’s global network of offices and test centres operate in accordance with media protocol.
Corporate Communications
Support the Head of Global Corporate Communications in developing the speeches, forewords, and letters required by IDP Education’s Global Leadership Team and others for high-profile corporate occasions in their appropriate tone of voice.
Draw on outstanding writing skills to develop text, video and interactive content for corporate websites that resonate with the customers of IDP Education’s products – student placement, IELTS and, to a lesser degree, English language teaching.
Leverage a range of corporate sponsorships and industry activities to develop new content relevant to our target audiences
Oversee the distribution of global content to colleagues who produce regional newsletters for IDP Education’s clients
Oversee the delivery of IDP’s group B2B social media content
Produce corporate presentations as required
Oversee the news content on the corporate website and related global social channels
People
Work with the communication team to lead a Community of Best Practice for communication professionals working across the network
Support the Head of Global Corporate Communications by developing a high-performing team that will develop IDP’s key communication objectives
Contribute to building a positive work environment within the team based on a shared commitment to IDP’s values and quality
Provide leadership and direction in implementing priorities agreed through the business plan
Use awareness of individual strengths and needs to drive personal growth and development
Give honest and constructive feedback in dealings with colleagues and stakeholders
Collaborate widely within IDP Education across both the student placement and IELTS teams
Required experience
Minimum of seven years’ experience in marketing communications or corporate communications, supported by a marketing degree or degree in related field
A high level of English language proficiency
Ability to convert complex ideas into simple content with an excellent eye for detail
Experience in speechwriting for senior executives
Experience working with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (agencies, vendors, business partners)
Good client relationship skills and ability to influence, negotiate and achieve resolution of problems
Ability to deliver communications within a brand management framework
Ability to make decisions and act with integrity
Organisational skills and ability to maintain focus under pressure
Demonstrated skills in managing projects and budgets
Experience working with digital systems such as websites and social media sites
Desirable Requirements
Familiarity with the higher education/international education sector or English language teaching sector
Experience working with publicly listed companies
Experience in media relations
Experience in operating within a global, matrix framework
Familiarity with multimedia software
