Role purpose

We are seeking an experienced, energetic and commercially minded lawyer with a global outlook to join our Corporate office as a senior lawyer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across IDP’s global operations. Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will be part of a diverse Legal and Governance team that’s spread across the globe. You will play a key role in helping implement IDP’s global strategy and acting as a key business partner on major strategic projects that have real impact. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and develop other members of the Legal and Governance team.
Key accountabilities
What you will do?
As part of the Legal and Governance team you will:
- Provide legal advice on corporate transactions and strategic projects and new initiatives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts.
- Provide legal advice on issues including competition and consumer law, IP and brand protection.
- Provide legal advice on privacy and data security across IDP’s global business.
- Support IDP on ASX corporate governance issues.
- Manage disputes in conjunction with external counsel.
- Participate in innovation and continuous improvement of processes to improve the way IDP operates.

Required experience
We are looking for someone with:
- At least 10 years’ experience in a well-regarded law firm or in-house environment.
- Admitted to the legal profession in Australia and holding a practising certificate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating procurement, supply and licencing agreements.
- A positive, energetic and collaborative mindset who will thrive in a highly agile and geographically dispersed team.
Desirable requirements:
- Previous experience working in a global organisation.
- Experience with ASX Listing Rules.
- Experience in the education, technology or services sectors.
