We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Accountant to join our dedicated Finance team based in Melbourne. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our Australian and international tax compliance requirements, ensuring that all obligations are met efficiently and accurately. The Tax Accountant will be central to maintaining compliance and governance standards while supporting the organisation’s strategic financial objectives on a global scale.
Key accountabilities
- Managing and supporting Australian tax compliance obligations, including income tax, Goods and Services Tax (GST), and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Preparing detailed monthly tax calculations and assisting with tax reporting requirements across IDP’s global group entities.
- Reviewing and verifying tax disclosures, reconciling tax computations within statutory financial statements to uphold compliance and reporting integrity.
- Assisting with withholding tax obligations and managing foreign tax offset processes to optimise tax positions in various jurisdictions.
- Collaborating closely with Finance and other stakeholder teams to provide actionable, practical tax advice, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Driving initiatives aimed at tax process automation, standardisation, and continuous improvement by leveraging advanced technology and analytics tools.
- Utilising finance systems and data analytics to enhance the quality, accuracy, and efficiency of tax reporting and compliance activities.
- Supporting internal and external audits, responding to tax authority enquiries, and ensuring robust governance and compliance frameworks are maintained.

Required experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in tax compliance within a corporate finance environment or a Big Four Chartered Accounting firm, demonstrating a firm grasp of tax regulations and practices.
- In-depth understanding of Australian tax legislation, including practical application to income tax, GST, FBT, and related compliance areas.
- Proven experience with tax effect accounting and comprehensive tax reporting processes aligned to statutory requirements.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a closely related discipline, underpinning a strong foundational knowledge.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong analytical capabilities, enabling efficient data handling and insightful interpretation.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and build rapport with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A genuine continuous improvement mindset, actively seeking opportunities to optimise workflows through technology and automation tools.
- Familiarity with Oracle Fusion or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, enhancing integration and reporting capabilities.
- Experience working with business intelligence and data transformation tools such as Power BI and Power Query, as well as workflow automation technologies.
- Previous exposure to multinational organisational environments, contributing to a broad understanding of international tax considerations and compliance complexities.
- Participation in finance transformation projects or initiatives focused on process improvement and operational efficiency.
