Role purpose
The Business Development Officer (IELTS) plays a pivotal role within IDP Education Ghana Limited, focusing on expanding the reach and impact of the IELTS product portfolio. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, nurturing key relationships, and implementing strategic initiatives to drive growth in the highly competitive field of English language testing.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to education agents, institutional partners, and customers, providing insightful guidance on IELTS testing services tailored to meet diverse needs. This position demands a proactive approach to business development, coupled with exemplary communication skills and a deep understanding of the international education landscape.
Working from Intake Ghana Osu, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the IELTS brand, fostering lasting partnerships and ensuring exceptional customer experiences that align with IDP’s mission of helping individuals achieve their global ambitions.
Key accountabilities
- Develop and execute targeted business development strategies to increase IELTS test uptake within Ghana and surrounding regions, aligning initiatives with overall corporate goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with education agents, academic institutions, and corporate partners, supporting their growth and collaboration with IELTS services.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential threats, providing insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and customer service to ensure seamless delivery and promotion of IELTS offerings.
- Organise and participate in workshops, seminars, and promotional events to raise awareness and understanding of the IELTS test benefits and processes among key stakeholders.
- Provide regular reports and forecasts on sales activities, pipeline status, and revenue projections to inform company planning and resource allocation.
- Champion customer feedback mechanisms to continuously improve service quality and drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Required experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in business development, sales, or a related field preferably within international education, language testing, or a comparable sector.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets and growing business partnerships.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently and effectively with diverse stakeholders including education agents, academic institutions, corporate clients, and customers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IELTS products and services is highly advantageous, alongside familiarity with the international education landscape and regulatory environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and CRM tools to manage relationships and reporting activities.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with a collaborative spirit and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Fluency in English is required; additional language skills will be considered an asset.
