Role purpose
The Oracle Database Administrator will play a pivotal part supporting / maintenance and ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our Oracle database environments.
Key accountabilities
Database Administration:
o Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle database software and related products.
o Monitor and optimize the performance of Oracle databases, ensuring high levels of availability, reliability, and security.
o Implement and manage database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
o Conduct regular database capacity planning and proactively address issues to support future growth.
o Manage and monitor Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Security and Compliance:
o Implement and enforce security policies to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
o Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks.
o Stay current with Oracle security best practices and apply them to enhance the overall database security posture.
Troubleshooting and Performance Tuning:
o Diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
o Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve overall database performance.
Database Design and Planning:
o Work closely with development teams to design, implement, and maintain database structures that meet application requirements.
o Collaborate in database schema design and modification to support evolving business needs.
Documentation and Training:
o Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
o Provide training and knowledge transfer with fellow DBA team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Team Work:
o Liaise with internal team members – functional and technical developers for Oracle EBS.
Communication:
o Act as liaison between various stakeholders such as Finance team members, EBS Functional and Technical developers and offshore based development teams.
Organisation and Planning:
o Work with functional users to put together test scripts for execution after changes have been made to systems.
o Assist and Conduct Integration testing between systems as well as assist with testing when required.
Required experience
• Oracle Database administration experience in an enterprise environment, ideally with 19c
• Oracle E-Business Suite administration include patching, clone, upgrade experience. Ideally with 12.1 / 12.2 version.
• Oracle Performance Monitoring and Tuning.
• SQL Query Tuning and SQL Profiles.
• Partitioning setup and maintenance.
• CPU deployment.
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle Cloud data structures and business processes.
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) administration with hands-on experience.
• Backup & Recovery solution design and implementation using RMAN or other enterprise backup solution.
• High Availability design and administration experience using Data Guard or RAC.
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools.
• Linux administration experience.
• Shell script.
• MS SQL server administration is a plus. (Desirable)
• Oracle Fusion Middleware experience. (Desirable)
• Experience with Peoplesoft configuration. (Desirable)
• ITIL / ITSM concept and experience in using tools like Service Now. (Desirable)
• AWS administration experience is a plus. (Desirable)
